Proposal

Art is a doorway into different cultures. My film will show this action by exploring a new art form Ndebelefitti combining Ndebele tribal art with Graffiti art. As most know graffiti art has no true home only origin and the world as its canvas. Community is very important and being that graffiti has no place legally, it might not be such a bad idea if it did. Ndeble art is introduced to support graffiti for the ndebele tribe is a community of houses and walls with beautiful vibrant colors and mathematically designed patterns. Ultimately I want the audience to feel that an area based solely for art and community is exciting and progressive. This documentary will be based on a brief history of both cultures and a classroom that gets to learn about both and also demonstrate their talents by interpretation of the new art style. There will be an event held to showcase the pieces and to promote ndebelefitti and taking it from the class to the world.

The documentary will open on the first promotion/presentation to the kids and staff presenting the idea as an art school project. It will then explore the classroom and their progress and understanding of the art style. Throughout, a brief history of both ndeble and graffiti and art works of both. Once progress has formed into finish pieces the doc will then show the audience the preparation of the main event to the public. This main event will consist of dancers artists designers and a dj.

Goal of the piece is to, hopefully, expand on the idea of giving people something new to try to occupy their time in a positive and legal manner.
